Queen Elizabeth Katara Lodge

Queen Elizabeth Katara Lodge is on the Great Rift Valley escarpment. The lodge provides rich views of the Savannah, Lake Edward, the Virunga ranges, and the Rwenzori Mountains while on a Queen Elizabeth safari. Katara lodge is also 16km from the Katunguru gate of Queen Elizabeth National Park.

Accommodation At Katara Lodge

There are seven (7) regular cottages and one family cottage.

These luxury-thatched cottages sit on a lovely stretch of hills overlooking the open Savannah in a serene environment.

The Katara village community built spacious cottages with local materials and carved them into the hillside. These cottages combine wooden floors, grass-thatched roofs, and canvas which you can fold to have clear views of the park extending below.

The regular cottages have a large open sleeping and sitting area, a double bed, and a four-poster star bed. This bed can be wheeled out onto the veranda to sleep directly under the starlit African sky.

The luxurious bathrooms will either give you the romantic roll-top bath, or the invigorating rain shower. This could be the sound way to relax after thrilling Uganda wildlife safaris during the day.

The family cottage has two independent bedrooms with a shared sitting area and bathroom.  There is a double bed in one bedroom, and two beds in another bedroom which can accommodate up to 3 small children. This cottage also has a private sitting area outside with a swing coach and two hammocks.
