2 Days Queen Elizabeth National Park Safari: Detailed Itinerary

Day 1:  Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

At around 6:30 am, after breakfast at your place of stay in Kampala, our safari guide will pick you up to embark on a 420km (approximately . 6–7 7 hours) drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park, the 2nd biggest park in Uganda, boasting over 95 mammal species, including 4 of the African safari Big five except rhinos.

You’ll drive westwards through Uganda’s beautiful green countryside, plus amazing Savannah grasslands with lots of banana plantations and several herds of amazing local long-horned Ankole cattle endemic to this part of the country.

On reaching, you’ll check in at your lodge and settle for lunch, then transfer to Mweya jetty for a 2-hour boat cruise on Kazinga channel that starts at 2 pm. Kazinga Channel is a 32-km natural channel connecting Lake George to Edward. While on a cruise, you’ll get up close and personal with the highest concentration of hippos in one location in the world, along with over 100 bird species (both migratory and resident), elephants, buffalo, and crocodiles basking at water edges along the channel.

The cruise will offer you an excellent platform for photography, bird watching in Queen Elizabeth National Park, and game viewing in this Park. You’ll retreat from the boat cruise and do an evening game drive along the channel track to explore the wild game in their evening moments. Continue to lodge for an overnight.

Day 2: Do the Game game drive and transfer to Kampala

You’ll wake up for an early morning cup of tea in the views of the moist Savannah before heading for the morning game drive at 7 am in the serene Kasenyi Savannah plains of Queen Elizabeth National Park.

While on the drive, you’ll encounter a range of African Savannah animals in Queen Elizabeth Park, such as lions, elephants, buffaloes, leopards, topis, Uganda kobs, waterbucks, bushbucks, common warthogs, spotted hyenas, side-striped jackals, and hippos.

On the drive, you’ll spot numerous amazing birds in Queen Elizabeth Park, as the park holds over 600 bird species—the highest checklist in Uganda and East Africa—counting the Martial eagle, Kingfishers, African fish eagles, African skimmers, Pink-backed pelicans, Black bee-eaters, etc.

Retreat from the activity and embark on the transfer to Kampala city, making a stop at the Igongo Cultural Center 12km past Mbarara town and the Uganda Equator crossing at Kayabwe for incredible photo shoots and to purchase souvenirs to commemorate your safari in Uganda.
