Ngorongoro Crater was initially part of the Serengeti National Park as constituted in 1951 but was later declared independent and it apparently rests to the south of Serengeti featuring short grass plains along with extensive large extinct ancient volcano to the western side of the Great Rift Valley.

At 2 – 3 million years past, the Ngorongoro crater was created following the eruption and the collapse of a large volcano. In the year 1978, the area was declared a UNESCO world heritage site standing as the world’s intact volcanic caldera measuring to 16 – 19km in diameter along with walls of 400 – 610m elevation. It has always been listed as a candidate among the Natural wonders of the world not only because of its magnificent scenery but also the concentration of large mammal counts.

Ngorongoro Safari features a range of Zebra and Wildebeest herds, Thomson’s gazelle, Topi, the Grant’s gazelle and East African high population of Black Rhinos while the predator concentration is unmatchable with the presence of lions, cheetah, leopards, spotted hyenas and side stripped jackals.

Getting to Ngorongoro Crater in Tanzania Safari Holiday can be done by flight to Arusha Airport and then connect by surface 4 hours to the park.  One can as well fly to Manyara Airstrip and then drive for an hour to the crater.
